“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Weariness often goes deeper than physical exhaustion. It can come from constant responsibility, emotional strain, unmet expectations, or carrying worries we were never meant to carry alone. Jesus recognizes this weight and speaks directly to those who feel overwhelmed.
Notice that Jesus does not say, “Fix yourself and then come.” He says, Come as you are. Rest is not something we earn after everything is sorted out; it is something we receive when we bring our tired selves to Him.
True rest is not merely stopping activity—it is allowing our soul to release its burdens into God’s care. When we come to Jesus, He doesn’t just lighten the load; He replaces it with His peace.
Prayer:
Jesus, I come to You with my weariness and burdens. Give my soul the rest only You can provide. Amen.
